Medical Examiner's Report confirmed the cause of Kailia Posey's death was hanging.

16-year-old' Toddlers and Tiaras' star Kailia Posey died by suicide. Her lifeless body was found inside a vehicle on May 2, 2022, in Birch Bay State Park, days after her 16th birthday and prom.

Posey's mother, Marcy Posey Gatterman, confirmed her daughter's passing in an emotional post on Facebook, stating, "... I don't have words or any thoughts. A beautiful baby girl is gone."

A couple of days later, Posey's family shared a statement to TMZ, "Although she was an accomplished teenager with a bright future ahead of her, unfortunately, in one impetuous moment, she made the rash decision to end her earthly life." After completing the examination, Whatcom County Medical Examiner's Office in Washington stated that "the cause of death was asphyxia due to ligature hanging and the manner is suicide." One of the friends of the 'Toddlers and Tiaras' star shared that they knew Posey was struggling with her mental state but were not aware of how badly it had gotten.

  

To commemorate Kailia Posey's untimely departure and that it will not be in vain, her family started Kailia Posey Teen Crisis Intervention Fund through the Whatcom Community Foundation in Washington state. This funding aims to get the imperative resources to students facing a similar dilemma.
