Ultimate Brotini #7 – The Incredible Hulk Martini

For eight days, we’re hitting you with the bravest, most stereotypically dude-worthy cocktails we can dig up. Some of these you can make yourself, and at least one is only found at a posh bar at a Manhattan cheese shop, and only by request. You’re bound to be inspired to down some brave spirits, and you’ll certainly rethink the idea of a martini.

With a name like the Incredible Hulk, this martini can’t just be for chicks, can it? Part of its lore is that it was created because the signature ingredient, Hypnotiq, is especially sweet, and seemed to be mostly ignored by men and soaked up by women until it met its future.

Apparently, at a Hypnotiq event at Sean Combs’ New York City restaurant, Justin’s, they saw just this phenomenon. Someone had to change the face of Hypnotiq. Bartender Victor Alvarez is credited with creating this drink by mixing Hennessy (a cognac) with this fruity blue drink. The resulting martini is a stiff, green punch in the face. It was a hit, and since then, the appropriately named drink has been adopted into popular culture.

One part Hypnotiq
One part cognac (Hennessy for example)
Stir together and strain over ice.
