App Review: IP Cam Viewer Pro For Android
Security is a very important part of our everyday lives. Back in the good old days people didn’t worry about locking their doors when they left or having passwords set for everything, but now safety is really becoming an issue. Airports have thorough and sometimes controversial security scanners and even elementary schools are implementing full body searches and high tech security cameras. You just can’t be too safe these days, and what’s safer than being able to access everything from your mobile device or tablet?
IP Cam Viewer Pro is a perfect companion app for paranoid and recluse people around the world or someone looking to beef up their home security. The app allows you to connect to a wide variety of IP cameras, DVR’s, Network Video Recorders and Web cam’s.
For a simple surface user IP Cam Viewer Pro can still be an enjoyable waste of time. Within seconds you can connect to college campus cameras, public cameras, highway cameras and even beach cameras from literally all around the world, from South Africa to Alaska, nothing is out of reach with IP Cam Viewer Pro.

If you’re a little more sophisticated with your tech gadgetry IP Cam Viewer Pro will suck you in immediately. It has plenty of options and settings to connect to your own personal cameras or even another smartphone device. You can turn almost anything into a monitoring system. Your home computer can now become a personal camera for keeping an eye on the kids when you’re out of town or you can “forget” to bring your cellphone with you on your stroll to the park and find out what’s really going on in that shady apartment complex where you managed to score some really cheap rent.

IP Cam Viewer Pro is peace of mind for the bizarre people who must constantly keep an eye out on everything around them, and it’s also an in-depth app for people looking to browse random cameras across the globe. It’s also worth noting that you can have the option to simply view cameras or record them, which may come in handy at a later date.

IP Cam Viewer Pro is not the world’s most beautiful looking app or easiest to navigate through, but it gets the job done from a technical standpoint. Upon first boot up I instantly noticed that it takes some getting used to. Directions aren’t mapped out as easily as they should be and buttons take a few seconds to respond. It has a very clunky interface, but once you get the hang of things it can really be fun to use.

If you’re not as forgiving as me when it comes to the applications looks than check out its free counterpart; IP Cam Viewer Basic, it does everything the Pro version does minus the two way audio, which actually didn’t work that great for me, but I tested it in close proximity. The two way audio would come in handy if someone is looking to use this app as a baby monitor or a serious spying device, but it’s not really a make or break deal here.

IP Cam Viewer Pro is very rough around the edges and not as pretty as most apps hitting the market; but it was created by an individual and not a massive company with tons of backing. Chou displays his software experience without a doubt, but his application is in need of a serious makeover as far as making it look visually appealing. While the app is very detailed in its support with tons of cameras and devices, I don’t think it’s worth the full price without an overhaul.
Smartphone apps can get by on providing unique experiences for the more avid tech geeks, but the general masses aren’t going to download something that looks this confusing. It’s sad to dock an app points for being too detailed, but apps are all about being quick and focused and IP Cam Viewer Pro isn’t the easiest thing to control in this fast paced world we live in.

QUICK HITS
- Controls: Normal finger taps. Some buttons require a longer hold for it to register.
- Time Suck: Quick for random site seeing and extensive for a long haul spy session.
- Replay/Addiction Value: Moderate if you use it for security purposes, but not high if you’re just fooling around.
- Polish: One of the uglier apps out there, but it makes up for it in the tech department.
Rating: 2.4 out of 5
