Tasting Notes: SunButter – A Peanut Butter Alternative

We’re lucky enough to have companies send us their products to try, and although we’ve gotten a few doozies, we share only the best with you guys.

So we’ve tried peanut butter and almond butter… but, there is also sunflower seed butter! The SunButter people sent us some samples to try of their creamy sunflower seed spread.

As I said in the Barney Butter review; you can’t really compare almond butter to peanut butter. Sunflower seed butter is the same way– you have to think of it on its own. SunButter taste exactly like sunflower seeds but in a creamy form. If you like munching on sunflower seeds, you’re highly likely to enjoy SunButter.

SunButter’s products are made in a peanut-free environment and are naturally gluten free. Their butter is high in iron and fiber and is cholesterol free. On top of that you’re getting 27% of your daily vitamin E and 10% Zinc. This butter tastes great and its really good for you.

If you’re ready to shake things up a little, give SunButter a chance.

One Response to Tasting Notes: SunButter – A Peanut Butter Alternative

  1. Kate says:

This actually interests me much more than the almond butter (OK, that’s not really fair to almond butter, but I guess I should say that SUNFLOWER SEED BUTTER seems more versatile), as I love the taste of a mouthful of sunflower seeds that have been pre-shelled. They have a nutty, rich flavor. Conversely, I am loath to eat regular sunflower seeds because of the difficulties in shelling them on your own. I watch stuff like THE X FILES, and you’ve got Spooky Mulder there popping seeds in his mouth and spitting back out the shells. How one achieves that is beyond me. I am incapable of shelling seeds with enough efficiency not to bring my snacking to a grinding halt, and so I usually just end up eating the shells too. This is invariably a giant mistake as they hurt my stomach something fierce, and so in recent years I’ve largely given up on sunflower seeds altogether. I’d love to try a SUNFLOWER BUTTER sometime though, and if this shows up at STOP AND SHOP one day, I’d be chuffed to pick up a tin

PS Also, if you plan your eating around a system, IMHO you should be able to conquer any weight related concerns you may have. With a little dedication, you can rework your meal schedule in such a way that you can eat virtually whatever you want
