The Multi-Function LED Display Panel Wall Lamp
vs.
The High-Design Satin-Finished Steel Floor Lamp

Tilumi Talk

Light is not merely an energy that you smear across a space so your ass doesn’t bounce off the walls. It is a gift and the most important component to our visual world. It is the means by which our eyes see anything and everything, and it is still a phenomenon so complex we don’t fully understand it. That doesn’t mean we can’t harness it to do super cool things though, and the Tilumi Talk wall panel will illuminate a space, but also serves as a sort of digital Lightbrite that can be programmed with all manner of images. Not only can it be set to display a clock or the date, it can recieve messages from smartphones to display emoticons or drawings. Your friends can even send you messages. Let’s see your mom’s clap light do that. [399 Euro]

vs.

Quoizel Olympic Floor Lamp

A good lamp may end up being subconscious center of any room in which it’s placed. The point from which vision-granting light flows, it makes no sense to have the very source of everyone’s ability to see your space be a cheap or gimmicky fixture. A sturdy, modern lamp like the Quoizel Olympic will ensure your rooms own personal Sun will be a centerpiece item worth looking at. An epic 57″ tall, it will earn it’s Sun-like important by wending gravity and stability to any room it is present in. And honestly, is there a more badass way to light up a room then from a giant, thick steel monolith? I thought not. [$2,598.91]

So illumination by way of cutting-edge communication and multi-purpose utility, or a bright steel center forged from durability and design?

Renn, thanks for researching these but honestly I don’t much care for either of ‘em. If I wanted to spent alot of money on a light, I’d get a Tiffany Lamp, or, in a perfect world…. some of the gigantic Stalinist chandeliers from the Romanian parliament building:
