Tasting Notes: Voyant Chai Cream Liqueur

We’re lucky enough to have companies send us their products to try, and although we’ve gotten a few doozies, we share only the best with you guys.

Okay, guys… Every once in a while we try a product that becomes an instant no-brainer. From the fiery orange bottle to the exotic aroma of chai when you first unscrew the cap, this bottle of Chai-flavored liqueur is going to spark some creative mixing ideas. Even if you don’t want to get fancy, the liqueur is darn good on the rocks. And don’t tell the publisher this, but it’s been my best little secret, hidden in the bookshelf next to my desk here. It’s been enjoyed on ice in my inconspicuous coffee cup, and has even kicked up my coffee in a way that makes me wish this stuff came in 2 0z shot-sized creamer cups. But I can’t have it all.

A lot of flavors come together into this liqueur, although the taste of chai is dominant. You’ll taste a little sugar, oak-aged rum, Dutch cream, and pure vanilla among other inconspicuous spices. At 12.5% alcohol by volume, it packs enough kick to make it go down warm. One of the details that I like about it is that the bottle warns that you need to shake it up a little from time to time, as sediment forms on the bottle. Kind of like… the actual chai tea you might like. Those spices and tea settling along the bottom of the bottle are a testament to its genuine roots.

…the liquor’s innate ability to pair with other tastes on the sweet, dessert spectrum of the palate invite creative and experimental combinations.

It coats your tongue with a little kick, and goes down very, very easy. Thumbs up — or bottoms up, rather — to Voyant for thinking to combine the chai tea taste with alcohol. The idea itself, and the liquor’s innate ability to pair with other tastes on the sweet, dessert spectrum of the palate invite creative and experimentl combinations. It’s likely you’ll finish an entire bottle of this before you’re done figuring out what all you can mix it with. This one comes highly recommended from us.

Yum… intriguing! I am not an alco-enthusiast, but this has definitely piqued my interest. The root beer float idea is tasty, but I’d probably not use any alcohol other than the chai liqueur, and use soda for the rest of the liquid

The bottle is OK, but I feel like with the vast world of cool Indian design out there, it could have been better
