Only approximately 11% of practicing scientists today are females, and in this broad sector that attracts mostly gargoyles and androids, painfully few are nice-looking dames. That didn’t stop us from digging hard to find these hybrid ladies. Although we know them appropriately so for their contributions to scientific advancements that have made this world a better place, these women couldn’t help but smoke up the labs and classrooms they work in — and that’s not because they were blowing shit up. Well… some of them could. Guy.com salutes the hottest scientists in the world:

Day One – Jane Goodall

Born: 1934
Kind of scientist:
Primatologist
Country:
Great Britain

Where you could find her during her career: in the jungle, surrounded by chimpanzees.

Career and Contributions: Beginning in 1960, Jane Goodall spent 45 years studying chimpanzees in Tanzania. She was known for more unconventional practices not accepted by scientific communities at the time, developing close interpersonal relationships with the animals, and finding human traits in the animals previously undiscovered by other research. She founded the Jane Goodall Institute, an international wildlife and environment conservation organization with branches in many countries. She hasn’t retired yet, and 77 years of age, still travels over 300 days a year spreading the importance of wildlife conservation.
