Elite Beyond Recognition: Hasselblad H4D-200MS
You don’t need it, and damn sure can’t afford it. While you gaze upon the showcase here, you can hear your checkbook crying wherever it is — that’s for sure. We don’t care. We’re just waving flashy stuff around that we can’t afford either. Welcome to your tour of the unnecessary and elite.
There are cameras everywhere now. You can even find decent ones on many modern smartphones. But there are still people who love having a dedicated camera that they can whip out and be ready to go. Many a great shot has been lost while someone waited for the camera app on their phone to load.
When it comes to dedicated cameras there are plenty of companies that have great brand recognition. Everybody knows who Cannon and Nikon are, but usually only professional photographers have heard of Hasselblad. They are a Swedish company that makes extremely high end cameras. This week they released their newest model, the H4D-200MS. It’s a mouthful, but the camera packs just about every high end spec you would expect from a $45,000 camera.
Usually only professional photographers have heard of Hasselblad.
The camera takes 200 megapixel shots. It does this by combining six 50 megapixel shots into one incredibly detailed image. According to the Hasselblad website, each image takes up around 600 MB, which means you’ll be blowing through that memory card pretty quickly.
To get an idea of how detailed these shots are, you should take a look at the image gallery on the camera’s product page.

That looks like one hell of a camera. The detail and quality in those showcase shots are undeniably excellent. Too cool.
