App Review: Get Glue
Get Glue is a wonderful media application that allows you to check in to anything that you are currently doing. From watching a movie, listening to music or thinking about any sort of topics, it’s all covered in Get Glue. Now you might ask yourself, what does checking in actually mean? It simply means that you log into whatever you are doing and it is displayed for others around the world to see. It gives you live numbers of how many people are checked into the same thing as you.
Get Glue is broken down into five sections. The first is the check in feature, which is as simple as it sounds. You search for what you are currently doing and then you check into it. By checking in, you earn points and stickers that are displayed in your profile. You can also add quick notes during your check in or you can stop by later and leave a review on what you checked into.
Next you have your stream, which is a live feed of what you and all your friends are doing. Here you can rate what yourself and others have checked into. You can like/dislike something or if you really enjoyed it, you can add it to your favorites.
Moving onto the rate/pick section, which is where you will probably spend most of your time. The rate/pick section allows you to pick from tons of topic lists and simply rate items individually. You can pick from movies, music, restaurants, topics, books and much more. One thing great about this section is the organization. The number and specificity of categories is superb, as it allows you to pick from the best movies of 2011 or the most popular gadgets of the 1980’s! If you have lots of time to kill, then this section is perfect for you.
What’s the point of doing all this rating and checking in if you can’t get rewarded? The sticker section is where you can look at all the stickers you have earned. Get Glue has lots of generic stickers that you get for checking into a certain item a number of times, but lately movie studios have started releasing stickers for checking into certain movies during opening weekend or on certain days. The stickers are pointless, but they definitely are a fun incentive! For every 20 stickers you earn, Get Glue will mail them out to you for free! That’s right; you can now take pride in your obsession and show of all your stickers to whatever friends you have left.
The last section is your profile area that keeps all your check ins, ratings and friend stats. You can update your profile with a picture of yourself and you can link your profile to your Twitter or Facebook account.
I really like the app. It’s fast and it has a nice design that’s easy on the eyes. The only problem I have had with it was the occasionally slow check in time (about four to eight seconds longer than normal), but I can’t confirm if it’s the app or my phone that’s slow.
Overall, Get Glue is a very simple, but fun app. It’s fun for people that love to keep track of what they’re doing and share it with their friends. There’s nothing groundbreaking about it, but it’s a great addition to the list of many side apps that keep you from getting bored with life.
QUICK HITS:
Controls: Simple, mainly tapping on your item.
Time Suck: A few minutes per check in, unless you plan on spending time rating which could result in hours spent.
Replay/Addiction Value: High.
Polish: Very simple. No clutter.
RATING: 4/5

I love Get Glue, definitely a great website and a good app as well. Thanks for the review!
Sounds like a really cool app, I’ll definitely have to check it out. Nice review
Good review; short, sweet and to the point. I might be taking some time to get glued to Get Glue, all puns intended.
